On Thursday 12th April 2018 I attended the Sterling Networks BIG Breakfast and Business Show at Sixways Stadium in Worcester.
Having set up the #WorcestershireHour exhibition stand the previous evening meant I could dive straight in to the networking breakfast on arrival at 6.30 am. The room was already ‘buzzing’ with chatter so, after setting up my iPad to record a ‘timelapse’ video of the event, I grabbed a coffee and dived into my first conversations of the day.
There must have been over 100 people in the room but (as usual) with great planning and organisation by Sterling Networks and the Sixways catering team, all were fed and seated within 10-15 minutes.
Each table had a host that advised their group on the protocol for the first ‘round table’ session of 60 second ‘pitches’. I was on a mixed table of people, some I knew already and some new faces. I used my minute to talk about the Worcestershire Festival of Business which I am running in September. Sterling Networks are working with me on that event and running another BIG Breakfast there.
After a 15 minute break to refill drinks and chat some more, we had to move to a different table for another round of pitches. Sterling Networks have a great system which again meant we were all settled in our new positions very quickly.
Sterling Networks are probably the fastest growing networking group in our area and I can see why. Their events are well run and structured BUT without the ‘hard sell’ you get from some groups.
After the networking event came the business expo and I literally had people queuing up to talk with me all morning. I run the #WorcestershireHour ‘virtual networking’ group on Twitter and it was brilliant to meet so many new people in person, that I had only previously engaged with online.
Towards the end of the session I managed to get around the room and take some film footage. I have combined this with my ‘timelapse’ from breakfast to create a short fun video montage of the event. I hope you like it, I certainly enjoyed my morning and found the event hugely worthwhile.
