Charity Partner - with Sterling

Sterling are delighted to support a number of charity’s in their networking groups and also as Charity Partners at at our Sterling Expos.

We know that many charities derive enormous benefit from business networking with Sterling and we are committed to supporting those operating in the communities where we hold our groups.

To extend our support as widely and as fairly as possible, Sterling offers registered charities a gifted annual membership.

By offering support across everything from 24/7 care homes and home visits to day care centres and community support, Leonard Cheshire makes it easy for people to choose what’s best for them. They’ve got 130 supported living and residential services throughout the UK – one local example of this is Gloucestershire House in Cheltenham.

Learning and Lifestyle

Leonard Cheshire goes far beyond providing social care, running many excellent programmes that build confidence through activities and volunteering and breaking down barriers through access to computers and adapted IT equipment. ‘Can Do’ is one such programme for individuals aged 16-35 with a disability or long term health condition, that aids skills development, gives back to the community and adds value to a person’s CV. Another, the ‘Digital Inclusion’ programme can make the impossible seem possible to someone with a disability. It can open up a new job or education opportunities that weren’t previously an option by providing the latest in accessible technology.

Leonard Cheshire offers so much more – for example the Gloucestershire Wheels for All project runs inclusive cycling sessions for disabled and non-disabled people alike to get together and enjoy the benefits of getting on a bike.

Leonard Cheshire works with organisations to remove barriers and build inclusive workplaces by supporting them to understand and adopt a best practice approach to disability. The charity also runs a variety of programmes partnering young disabled people, graduates and school students with employers. Advice, mentoring and guidance is offered to the participants and businesses are provided with training and support around employing disabled people.

For your business, working with Leonard Cheshire presents an opportunity to boost your commitment to social responsibility – improving your and your employees’ understanding of disability, connecting with other local businesses, sharing skills and accessing new talent. In short – disability means business!
