Did you know that someone is diagnosed with leprosy every two minutes?

That’s more than 200,000 new cases a year. Although it is curable, millions of people worldwide are living with the effects of the disease, from physical disability to mental health problems, poverty and discrimination.

Our Mission – we are a global organisation leading the fight against leprosy. We seek to bring about transformation; breaking the chains of leprosy and empowering people to attain healing, dignity and life in all its fullness.

Leprosy if untreated, can lead to disabilities, but it is easily curable.

In fact, it cost just £24 to cure Nagajothi.

Nagajothi suffered with people looking down on her and this affected her mental health. But then The Leprosy Mission stepped in, offering her a place at the Vocational Training Centre (VTC) in Vadathorasalur. She took the brave decision to go and live there, away from her friends and family. She chose to become an electrician and this experience has transformed her life!  She told us, ‘I chose electrical training as it was a highly demanding job, but as I continued studying I started to like it more.’

Her mother said, ‘Nagajothi has changed so much after studying at the VTC. She is more confident and happier, and I now believe that she will get a job and build us a good home.’
